Video Blog: Festival of Lights 2018
Last year, Westquay hosted the first Festival of Lights, and looking back on the video blog and soundtrack from an evening trip, it's one of my favourites of the year. This year we took another trip, along with another dinner at Wahaca too.
Film Photo Blog: Ocean Village
Back in June, I took my old SLR out around Ocean Village. These are the photographs that came from the expired film that was in the camera.
Perseid Meteor Shower
I drove down to Lepe late on Saturday night to watch the meteor shower.
Video Blog: Abbotsbury
During half term, I drove west along the south coast, to meet my very good friend Corrie in Abbotsbury.
Corrie works at The Clock Workshop, just at the bottom of St Catherine's Hill. After meeting her for work, we walked up, past St Catherine's Chapel, and sat overlooking Chesil Beach.
We walked back down for dinner at the village pub — a halloumi, pepper and humous burger, followed by a chocolate brownie for me — before going to watch the sunset from Chesil Beach.

After a walk around Ocean Village, I took myself for a late night treat at Five Guys...
Video Blog: Wahaca with Corrie (Saturday 6 May 2017)
Corrie came to visit this weekend, and we went for dinner at one of my favourite places: Wahaca,

As the bank holiday weekend comes to an end, I spent the evening grabbing junk food with friends.
Video Blog: Five Guys Friday (Friday 28 April 2017)
What better way to start a Bank Holiday Weekend than with a Five Guys (burger and fries)?

I spent the last weekend of my Easter Holidays exploring the New Forest with Emma and Annora Bird; drinking and heading out in to town with friends; and then recovering the next day with Nandos and drinks with Alice.

It's been so good to have time off work to spend with friends. Video blogging these simple, lazy days helps to make memories from moments that are all too easy forgotten,

Vlogging my day on Monday 17 April 2017 — Easter Monday.
After a lazy start, I met Wez and Dan at Weatherspoons for lunch, followed by a drink at Maritimo Lounge. The day ends with a relaxed evening with Ellie and Dave in Chandlers Ford.
A Day In London
I was in London this week for a day with the Musicians Union. After staying overnight, I spent the day seeing family and friends.
After a morning at the British Museum, taking in the 'American Dream' exhibit, I met Dan and Luke on the South Bank, for lunch, drinks and a visit to the Tate Modern. After dinner with my brother and (soon to be) sister-in-law, it was time to head home.
Vlog: Saturday 18 February 2017
On Saturday night, I went with a couple of friends to the new development at Westquay to go bowling, see the festival of lights and have dinner at Wahaca.
Update (26/2/2017): Soundtrack now on Soundcloud
Vlogmas (Part 4): Christmas Dance Party
After helping them out this year, I joined the Integr8 Dance Company for their Christmas party in Winchester.
Vlogmas (Part 1): A Very Beartooth Christmas
One of my best friends was over from Ohio this week, visiting Southampton and joining the end Beartooth tour, so we all went to the German Market and the Beartooth show.
The German Market in the centre of Southampton has been a regular fixture of Christmas for as long as I can remember: small stalls in wooden sheds appear in December alongside German Bars selling beer and mulled wine in the centre of Southampton High Street.
A new addition to the market is a flying robotic Santa — yes, it's as creepy as it sounds — which is accompanied by an equally robotic pre-recorded voice announcement. Totally bizarre, but it's Christmas, so lets embrace the weirdness. From the market we made out way to the Engine Rooms for the Beartooth show.
It was a total honour to get to watch the Beartooth boys perform from side of stage. They always put on an incredible show, and they certainly did not disappoint. During the encore, the guitar tone for Caleb's solo was truly righteous.
Summer Shorts: Compilation
As the year turns to Autumn, it felt right to bring together the short Instagram films from the Summer Shorts series.
Over the summer I set myself a challenge: find a location, compose a piece of music and create an accompanying short film.
These 11 short films and their accompanying compositions represent a body of work created during the summer of 2016.
Music was all composed using the app Auxy (www.auxy.co) and films were shot on a Nikon D5100 with a Nikon 50mm f1.8 FX Lens.
Summer Shorts 09: Meon Shore, Titchfield
This week, I set myself a challenge: find a location, compose a piece of music and create an accompanying short film.
I wanted to go somewhere this evening to see the sunset, and so I drove east to find west-facing coastline at Titchfield.
I arrived just in time to park along the sea front, find a spot on the beach, and, with my camera set up, open up Auxy on my phone and start to compose.
In some ways, I saw the sunset twice this evening: once looking over Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve, and again from down on the beach. The sky lit up in yellow the first time, and in shades of pink and orange as the sun set over the sea.
Summer Shorts 07: Mayflower Park, Southampton
This week, I set myself a challenge: find a location, compose a piece of music and create an accompanying short film.
Finishing work at 8.30 tonight meant that if I was going to catch the last of any light, it had to be close by, and Mayflower park seemed the obvious choice. Arriving to find the horizon dyed yellow and orange with the last of the dusk sun, and the industrial lights flickering on the docks, I made two friends who showed me where to climb the fence to get the best views.
As my new friends listened to Kanye West out a phone speaker — who am I to judge? after all, I mixed one of my songs on my iPhone speaker this week! — I put my headphones in and started to play with melodies and sounds.
