'Grounded, Untethered' is the first of two improvised performances from this experimental music trio of Matt Brombley (electronics and vocals), Neil Valentine (viola) and Shri Sriram (bass).

The piece explores the theme of 'belonging' — on the Earth, in our bodies, in our families and communities — and the tension that exists in the space between being grounded in these things, and untethered from them.

The piece opens with an exploration of rising and falling into and away from a musical scale, set to resonated nature recordings of grounded space from a geophone.

The piece then moves into an exploration of earth, sea and sky, through a split modal approach, exploring the liminal and overlapping spaces between and across voices.
