'To Drift and Return' is a musical exploration of belonging: to ourselves, to each. other and to the environment.

In movement one, To Each Other, to Ourselves, we do this by making use of varying durations of improvisational interaction to experience changes in the negotiation of independence and interdependence. This mirrors what psychologist Gabor Maté describes as the inescapable tension between our two core needs: for authenticity and attachment.

In movement two, To Long in Frenetic Calm, we hold to, and move away from the raag Kaushik Dhwani, passing through moments of chaos and peace, arriving back at the scale, but with a new centre. In this journey we explore the transformation that happens internally, in relationships, and within the universe itself: to be torn apart, irreversibly changed, in order to belong.
